Summary: The Super Smash Brother’s franchise has been running strong since the Nintendo 64. Each installment has added modes, new ways to play, new characters to the roster, items and levels. There is something about getting to pick your favorite character from Nintendo’s long history and proving they are the best that drives the Super Smash Brother’s game in each generation to be one of that generation’s best-sellers.
Wii U Exclusive Features: Long have fans asked for a handheld installment to the franchise, but they simply have not had their calls answered. There are talks of a 3DS entry into the series, but in the mean time we can feel relieved that the game will be able to stream from our televisions onto the tablet controller. The Brawl entry gave us online play for the first time, but with Nintendo’s focus on connectivity this upcoming generation the experience should be all new. It can be expected that the new characters and modes will keep the series fresh and be a hit once again.
Social Play: Super Smash Brother’s Brawl connected gamers online for the first time in the series, but the system was prone to lagging and being disruptive. Super Smash Brothers Wii U will surely take advantage of the online network that will be more centralized than before, allowing for consistency and record keeping. Finally the series will become the competitive game that it was always envisioned to be.
Presentation: This series has always brought out some of the best developers in the industry to work together in near perfection for Nintendo. Seeing all of the gaming icons together on one stage in the quality they deserve is Nintendo’s demand as they have long focused on quality. The game will feature everything the previous installments have and more. Each entry always builds upon the previous while offering more.
