Bandai to Develop Smash Brothers Wii U
The Nintendo 64 was not just the era of introducing major Nintendo icons into the 3d universe; it also introduced the Smash Brother’s franchise to gamers all around the world. Taking the favorite characters fro Nintendo’s long history and putting them in classic settings for an all out multi-player brawl was genius if nothing else. The game became an instant hit and have since seen 2 more iterations in the series, with each one building upon one another.
Every installment thus far has seen an expansion of the roster for playable characters and additional modes being available to challenge the player. The previous installment on the Nintendo Wii also introduced motion controls for those that cared to play the game in a non-conventional sense. As with the tradition starting with the Nintendo 64, the upcoming Nintendo Wii U console will be getting its own installment of the Super Smash Brother’s franchise as well.
Super Smash Brother’s Wii U is deviating from the standard model where the HAL team exclusively develops the game. Coming on board with Masahiro Sakurai, who originally invented the series, is leading the project that will now see Namco Bandai and Sora contribute in the development process as well.
Ridge Racer’s Kenya Kobayashi of Namco Bandai will be producing the title and joining other talent such as Tetsuya Akatsuka and Yoshito Higuchi.
With the Brawl installment offering gamers the chance to play as Snake and Sonic from other company’s gaming icons, it is entirely possible that we will see some Namco Bandai characters enter the brawl and be playable characters in Super Smash Brothers Wii U. Some rumored characters include the original gaming icon himself, Pac Man.We have already seen the ghost eating icon in the arcade versions of Mario Kart before, so this wouldn’t be a stretch.
What do you think? Would you like to fight as Pac Man or perhaps Inky, Blinky or the other ghosts? Share your thoughts in the comment section on the upcoming Smash Brothers Wii U game.
